columbia record label

the band have released there albums and singles with columbia records which have also worked with the likes of kings of leon, manic street preachers, the coral, kasabian, new band twisted wheel and the list goes on. Columbia records have worked with quite a variety of different groups which have made it big and are well known, which is what i think will happen to glasvgas.
Their music over the past 12 months has become more known to more and more people. I would say that when NME recognised glasvegas thats where it all kicked off. NME loved glasvegas's music and praised them untill they finally got the recognition that they deserved. To this day NME still seem to priase this band and havent given up. In NME's best singles of 2008, glasvegas-geraldine was positioned high at number 2 and for best album was positioned at number 8, so they must be doing something right.

Where to find there music. Well there albums and singles can be found in any good music store like hmv or zavvi, they also get played on the radio quite alot (mainly radio 1) and there music videos can be viewed on the majority of them, particularly the NME channel, Q music or MTV 2 which are the channels which play indie/rock/alternative music. They are also headlining the NME awards tour which has been headlined in previous years by the cribs and the killers. So they have some expectations to reach.

LIVE

Glasvegas, introduction

Glasvegas are a Scottish indie/rock band who came together in 2003 in Glasgow. The band consists of James Allan (vocals, rhythm guitar), Rab Allan (lead guitar, backing vocals), Paul Donoghue (bass guitar, backing vocals) and Caroline McKay (drums).

Extra information

After picking up the prestigious Philip Hall Radar Award at this years NME Awards, and coming 4th in the BBC Sounds of 2008 poll, Glasvegas released 2 singles (Geraldine and Daddy's Gone through Columbia Records), followed by their self-titled debut album, co-produced by James Allan & Rich Costey (Franz Ferdinand, Interpol, Muse). The band are releasing a Christmas album on December 1st, which comes as a bonus CD with the album Glasvegas, featuring 6 new tracks recorded in Transylvania.

There target audience i would say is people between the ages if 18-mid 30's as the band are not young teenagers therefore they behave in a more mature way which may appeal to the old audience. I would say they appeal to both male and female in an equal balance, therefore covering all aspects of gender. The lifestyle they would appeal to would be working/middle class people as the band themselves are not rich upper class people, they are more working/middle class ordinary people who enjoy playing music therefore may appeal to the audience which is most like themselves.

The image they portray is a very mature group of adults who only wear black. They also were black and james allen (lead singer) wears black glasses and very rarely takes them off. The type of clothes is just simple black jeans/trousers and black long sleeved tops, with black shoes so its a very simple dress code they all follow.
